Who is the Playwright's Circle for?
​
For emerging and established writers interested in creating theatrical work suitable for young audiences and/or families. Past participants have included playwrights and other theatre professionals, as well as writers from a variety of genres.

What elements are included?

​Playwrights can expect to create a short, yet complete, play under the guidance of professional playwrights Mike Czuba and Stephen Heatley.

The elements of Kompany's New Works for Young Audiences Playwrights Circle includes:

Circle Sessions
Over the course of seven group sessions, led by either Mike or Stephen, participants will develop their plays. Sessions take place on Sunday evenings.
Professional Actor Read Through
Intended Audience Workshops
Plays will be read through by professional actors directed by a professional director. Playwrights will have an opportunity to revise their plays (with dramaturgical assistance) before the final reading and workshop.
Plays will be eligible to be workshopped in front of audiences (typically schools), led by professional actors and a director.


The Playwright’s Circle is an annual hands-on workshop series for people interested in writing quality scripts for young audiences. All writers of all levels are welcome!
